Putnam City West vs. Putnam City
Last Friday it was Putnam City West (PCW) versus Putnam City (PC) which was a cross town rivalry and battle for the top team in 6A. It was a preview of what is to come for the beginning of the season. PCW step outside of the shadows of PC, which was winning the game 62 - 61. The fans were raving as PCW Amric Fields (The Texas Christian University commit) the 6’8” forward and Tyler Neal (With many D1 offers including ORU) the 6’7” forward led the charge with their spectacular play. Neal made the game winning basket in the end with an aggressive move to the basket. Amric was scoring inside and out exhibiting his versatile game. Neal finished the game with 18 points and Fields followed with 17.
Not to be out done, the high flying Dominique Rainey made some shots from behind the arc, but most of his work was done around the basket on both ends of the court. Early in the game Rainey was primarily a perimeter player, but as noted he found a way to get his team back in the game by attacking the basket, after being down. At one point Dominique Rainey at 6’3” blocked the Shot of Amric Fields who is 5 inches taller on a transition basket. Rainey finished with 21 points. Look to hear more from these teams next month in Pirate country (PC) on January 29th and in the battle for state.
Tulsa Central vs. Edison
In Eagle country Tulsa Edison had to protect their nest from the Tulsa Central Braves who came to play and let everyone know they belong. The Edison Eagles were led by Stephen “Pooh” Hamilton 22 points and DJ Mahone with 16 points. Hamilton scored in a variety of ways and was tough in the paint. Mahone is just a man in the middle because of his extraordinary athleticism and wide muscular frame. He was particularly tough around the goal, which gave the Braves front court trouble. The versatile Corey Frasier paced the Braves with 17 points. Frasier stands 6”3” and can score in a variety of ways and can defend multiple positions. Frasier had support from Ryan Devers who pumped in 16 points, Charles Boaz 13 and Ravey Norton had 11.
